Update:  March 26th 2020

To: All Stakeholders

In national interest due to COVID-19, the Government of Suriname has taken the decision that with effect on March 14th, 2020 at 03:00 UTC all international passengers’ arrivals and departures at the Johan Adolf Airport (SMJP) and Zorg and Hoop airport (SMZO) will be temporarily suspended.

The following flights must receive prior approval from the Act.Head of the Civil Aviation Department with at least 24 hour notice.

-          Medical flights;

-          Repatriation flights; and

-          Cargo flights.


Flights with the Johan Adolf Pengel Airport (SMJP) as an alternate will not be allowed.

The Civil Aviation Department of Suriname considers the safety and wellbeing of all its stakeholders as top priority and will use all its available resources to safeguard this.

Strictly observe the general hygiene rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
